The inner and outer mummy judges are bitches

I am writing this coz I realized how mummy judges are very mean and bad for my soul. And yet I think it exists in every mother.

How many times that ugly judgemental voice comes out when we see fellow mummies doing something we deemed as odd? More often than not I realized its this inner battle I have with myself. I also try to be sensitive to other mummies as well.

Being a mum is hard enough, you really don't need another mummy to fuck with your mind.

Sometimes when I hear what other mummies faced with their kiddos I tried to think of something smart to say like hey that's what I did too. But somehow that something smart eludes me. I am often speechless and awkward.

But really different folks different strokes. While I know what works for me and E, it may not apply to other mummies and their kiddos. Easy to say hard to practice.

Note to self - be less critical and more encouraging. We all just want the bestest for our kiddos.

Growing up... A post dedicated to SG50. Simi sai also #SG50

SINGAPORE just celebrated our 50 years of independence since 1965.

It's a very poignant year for us especially this year as its the year we said goodbye to LKY.

I woke up early 9am to actually listen to LKY reading the proclamation of SINGAPORE during that fateful day August 9, 1965. It was surreal listening to his voice and emotional at the same time knowing he is no longer here with us.

It got me thinking about my parents struggle to bring me up during those turbulent years. Maybe less turbulent during 1979 but hey growing thru those years were definitely challenging.

I suddenly wish I had a time machine where I can relive those moments and see Singapore in the olden times.

Being in the present having technology on my fingertips has made all of us lazy and unable to hold conversation. Gone are the days we hold a simple chat with neighbors along the alleys or corridors. How I miss those days.

I remember my mum depositing me with my neighbors just so she can go pick my sis and bro back at block 12 Marsiling Lane.

I remember my kindergarten years where I played with my friends at block 15 void deck; & especially with me being beaten my teacher and of coz subsequently the teacher being sacked be coz my parents went to complain. See this act was already popular back in the 80s.

I wish I remember more of downtown and what it looks like. I only remember vaguely Orchard road coz I frequent there  during secondary school. But city hall and raffles place I have no idea or memories of it. So sad... Seeing these historical moments being flashed in front of me... I feel a sense of pride for being part of the past 50 years. & secretly looking forward to the next 50 (though am cynical but let's see).

Oh well on a lighter note. What VnAnE did over the super 4 days long SG50 weekend.
