YES! The movie – Sex and the City! The mecca drama for all WOMAN ever existed. So much happiness and tears had been shed by me over the love of the drama till the current movie. Seems like ages ago...
The movie was very long (2.5hrs) though I could hardly feel it. I could almost sense a longing from every woman in the cinema to all parts of the movie. Every scene that was roll out was met with a sigh or an ‘aww’. I was immersing myself in the movie, trying to remember that particular favourite dress or favourite words. One favourite of mine is the scene where Carrie and Big were in bed and Carrie was reading this book – Love Letters from Great Men by Walt Whitman. There was this particular poem that Carrie read out to BIG which at the end BIG whispered the last 3 lines of the poem to Carrie’s ear. It was the MOST touching words I think anyone husband can actually say to his wife-to-be.
Anyway I managed to extract that same poem which I will paste here for you all to see.
Moving on. Watching SATC always allow me that few minutes of indulgence in the fact of the simple closeness with people from friends to love ones. Something that seems so easy and attainable seems so hard to achieve in reality. I guess that’s why I can have the briefest moment of indulgence thinking I can achieve that closeness.
This movie is definitely about L O V E – finding love, keeping love, loosing love, enjoying love & rekindling love. So much love that is available all over, I would like to think I have found some LOVE for myself. When one finds love, emotions take over. Loose the rationale and just follow your heart.
Another connection I felt was the whole wedding preps part, no doubt I don’t have the mega budget or the designer gowns or THE JILT AT ALTAR bit (touchwood of that happening). The bit about a wedding between the couple ONLY and not about anyone else. Of coz that is Hollywood, one says coz in the movie you do not see the couple’ family members. Its almost like they don’t exist. Hahaha…
K just hit me. Perhaps why the show is sooo nice coz they take out parents. What do you think? Parents change the equation. Well anyway just one of my musings at 3.30am on a Sunday morning typing away on my lappie in bed! Yawnz…
